  1. Trust the People.
  2. Be honest in my public life.
  3. Be compassionate in my public life.
  4. Be respectful in my public life.
  5. Be candid and open in my public life.
  6. Accept that my refusal to explain any act or decision made in my capacity of public servant will be grounds for the People to demand my instant dismissal from office in disgrace at the discretion of the People, not any other public servant.
  7. Accept that the absolute minimum standard will be that no action or decision is ever implemented by me or anyone over whom I have authority without a prior explicit and open explanation of some kind.
  8. Accept the right of the individual to take no part in their own governance, to refuse to listen to the words of those governing, and to consider themselves incapable of understanding the principles and details of their governance and accept that all these things are the decision of the individual being governed never those doing the governing.
  9. Accept the principle that the only legitimate government is of People, for People, by People.
  10. Accept the definition of 'People' as being every Human Being alive now and in the future. Forever.
  11. Accept the definition of 'government' as any exercise of any power of one person over another, with, or particularly without, informed consent.
  12. Accept the truly fundamental principle that any exercise of power by one person over another is a direct assault on the freedom and Human dignity of that person and is therefore immoral and unacceptable in the absence of reasonably defined necessity.
  13. Accept that the my position is that of servant of the People and that these declarations constitute minimum conditions of employment.
  14. Accept that the my position is that of member of a team being employed by the People under the absolute and sole authority of the People.
  15. Accept that the Government has neither rights nor money, these belong to the People. The Government has responsibilities.
  16. Be entitled to expect that the People will behave as 'equal opportunities employers', celebrating those things that make Human Beings different and diverse as additions to the sum of the Human Spirit.
  17. Be entitled to respect for my private life.
  18. Be entitled to expect that if the above priciples are being adhered to then questioning of my private life should not be necessary.
  19. Admit in advance that I am not perfect and will fail to live up to these pledges.
  20. Accept fair and open criticism in my public life.
  21. Accept that the position is temporary, a privilege that may be withdrawn by the People at any time, without prior notice or consent.
  22. Accept that the signed original of these principles will be archived and copies will be posted in all public buildings and other public places along with my photograph and some contact details. The public servant must be available to the People and the People should be made aware constantly that this is so.
  23. The above declarations will be completely voluntary, with no legal or any other standing, and subject to no formal definition, measurement, censure or sanction.

Trust the People. (Ref: n1010)

A great deal has been said and written over the centuries about the merits or otherwise of the People. The ideal would be to have nobody with any power over anybody else at all. Fine if you are happy to stay in the Stone Age forever, but we have long since left behind the days when this could be so. Given we have no choice but to give power (not allow it to be taken) where is it best to put it to make things fail-safe? The least dangerous strategy is to spread power as thinly as possible, to put it as far down the social hierarchy as possible, where failure to get things right, by accident or malice is likely to be least harmful. Yes, the People will sometimes do very stupid things but those who today maintain that the People cannot be trusted are most likely to be those people who would lose power; turkeys don't vote for Christmas.
